Freight Edge collects personal information to move freight, keep customers informed about shipments, and run our business. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who sees it — in plain terms.

Who we are and what this covers

Freight Edge LLC ("Freight Edge," "we," "us," or "our") provides freight brokerage, transportation, and logistics services, including shipment booking, tracking, and delivery notifications. This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect through freightedge.biz, our customer and carrier portals, our API services, our text message (SMS) programs, and our phone and email communications.

By using our website or services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

Personal information we collect

We collect the categories of personal information below. Not every category applies to every person — what we collect depends on how you interact with us.

Account information Username, password, account preferences, permission level, and support history for our customer and carrier portals.
Shipment information Origin and destination addresses, pickup and delivery contacts, commodity descriptions, weight and dimensions, reference and PO numbers, rate quotes, load tenders, proof of delivery, accessorial charges.
Carrier and driver information MC and DOT numbers, operating authority, insurance certificates, W-9 information, driver names and phone numbers provided for dispatch, equipment details, safety and compliance records.
Payment information Billing contact, remittance details, invoice history, and payment method information. Card and bank details are handled by our payment processors; we do not store full card numbers.
Location and telematics Shipment tracking data, including location supplied by carriers, ELD providers, or tracking applications used to monitor loads in transit.
Communications Emails, text messages, portal messages, web form submissions, and call records, including recordings where permitted by law and disclosed at the time of the call.
Technical and usage IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages viewed, referring URL, and similar data collected through cookies on our website and API services.

We collect this information directly from you, from your company, from carriers and shippers involved in a shipment, from service providers such as credit and safety-rating databases, and automatically through your use of our website and services.

How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • Arrange, book, dispatch, and manage freight shipments
  • Provide quotes, tender loads, and confirm rates
  • Track shipments and provide status updates to shippers, consignees, and authorized parties
  • Send transactional SMS and email notifications you have requested or consented to receive
  • Onboard, qualify, and monitor carriers, including verifying authority, insurance, and safety records
  • Process invoices, payments, claims, and accessorial charges
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
  • Maintain records required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and other regulators, and comply with legal, tax, and audit obligations
  • Detect and prevent fraud, double brokering, identity misuse, and other unlawful activity
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve our website, portals, and API services
  • Send service updates and, where permitted, marketing communications you may opt out of at any time

Who we share personal information with

We share personal information with the following categories of recipients, and only as needed for the purposes described above.

Motor carriers, drivers, and dispatchers

To arrange and complete pickup and delivery, including shipper and consignee contact details required to execute the load.

Shippers, consignees, and their designated agents

To provide shipment status, documentation, and proof of delivery.

Technology and service providers

Transportation management systems, load boards, tracking and visibility platforms, SMS and email delivery vendors, cloud hosting providers, and customer support tools, each acting on our instructions under contract.

Payment processors, factoring companies, and financial institutions

To process payments, invoices, and settlements.

Insurance providers and claims administrators

To handle cargo claims and liability matters.

Compliance and screening providers

Carrier vetting, safety-rating, credit, and fraud-prevention services.

Professional advisors

Attorneys, accountants, and auditors bound by confidentiality obligations.

Government and regulatory authorities

Where required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

Business transfers

In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this policy's protections.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

SMS text messaging and consent

If you opt in to receive text messages from Freight Edge, we use your mobile number to send the messages you signed up for — shipment status updates, pickup and delivery notifications, dispatch coordination, and account or service alerts.

Consent handling / Do not transfer

SMS consent is not shared with third parties.

Your mobile number and your consent to receive text messages are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes. We share mobile numbers with our SMS delivery vendors only to the extent required to transmit the messages you requested, and those vendors are contractually prohibited from using your number for any other purpose.

Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site functioning, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use our pages. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may affect site functionality. Where required by law, we request consent before setting non-essential cookies.

How long we keep information

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide our services and to satisfy legal, regulatory, accounting, insurance, and recordkeeping obligations. Shipment and brokerage records are generally retained for the periods required under federal transportation regulations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

How we protect information

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and vendor security review. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing message, or contact us.

Text messages

Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP for assistance.

Access, correction, and deletion

Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, or opt out of certain processing. Residents of California, Texas, Virginia, Colorado, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have additional rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.

To make a request, email privacy@freightedge.biz. We verify your identity before responding, usually by confirming information already associated with your account or shipment. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission. We respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

Children's privacy

Our services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our services or the law change. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will provide additional notice, such as by email or a notice on our website. Please review this page periodically.
